Common questions from careers teams
What is the actual difference between Independent and Supported?
Every student gets identical access on both plans. The difference is what your careers team can see. Independent shows aggregate engagement numbers — how many students are active, how many CVs were created. Supported adds individual student tracking (with consent), at-risk alerts, cohort filtering, HESA exports and TEF evidence. If your team wants to intervene with struggling students, you need Supported.
How does the at-risk student identification work?
Students who create an account but have not logged in for 30+ days are flagged automatically in the careers dashboard. Your team gets a weekly digest with the number of at-risk students and their department. You can then reach out directly. This feature alone typically justifies the upgrade from Independent to Supported.
Do you charge per student?
No. Every plan is an annual site licence covering all your students. Whether 200 or 15,000 students use HireOS this year, the price stays the same. No per-seat fees, ever. This is a deliberate decision — we want you to encourage every student to use it, not ration access.
How does the HESA evidence pack work?
The Supported and Institutional plans include a one-click CSV export showing per-cohort engagement: CVs tailored, ATS score improvements, mock interview sessions, application volumes, and interview stage progression. This is supporting evidence for your HESA Graduate Outcomes submission — it documents engagement with employability support, which is a required metric. Note: HireOS captures engagement data. Final employment outcomes should be cross-referenced with your HESA Graduate Outcomes survey.
Can we try before committing?

Is HireOS GDPR compliant?
Yes. All data is stored in Supabase UK/EU region, never sold or shared. Student-level analytics on Supported and Institutional plans require explicit student consent at onboarding. We provide a Data Processing Agreement (DPA) for all institutional customers. Students can request data deletion at any time.
How does this help with league tables?
UK university league tables (Guardian, Complete University Guide, THE) weight graduate employment rates at 20–30% of the total score. A 1% improvement in your employment rate can move you 5–8 places.
